Waltham – Mrs. Marjore L. (Saurman) MacDonald, of Waltham, died Sunday, June 24, 2012 in Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood, Florida. She was 83.
Marjorie was born in Boston on June 4, 1929, a daughter of the late Malcolm and Lena (Ivester) Saurman and was raised in Braintree where she graduated from Thayer Academy. She attended Boston University and the Massachusetts College of Art and took her first job at Harvard Medical School where she worked as a research assistant. In later years she worked with her husband at his Waltham dental practice. Marjorie had lived in Belmont and in Newton before moving to Waltham in October of 1960.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Bernard F. MacDonald, D.M.D.; her children, Brian F. MacDonald of Henderson Nevada, L. Scott MacDonald and his wife, Susan, of Holliston, James A. MacDonald of Waltham and David C. MacDonald and his wife, Julie, of Milford, New Hampshire; and her grandchildren, Amanda MacDonald of San Diego, California, and Alysha, Jared and Aubrey MacDonald all of Holliston.
Family and friends will honor and remember Marjorie's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Sunday, July 1st from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Monday morning before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
