Waltham— Mr. Paul F. Corkery, of Waltham, died Tuesday, February 22, 2022 in Newton-Wellesley Hospital. He was 84 years old.

Born in Cambridge on January 12, 1938, he was a son of the late Emily (Mello) and John H. Corkery Sr. He was a graduate of Saint Columbkille High School in Brighton. He grew up across the street from his future bride, Lillian Thorne and the two married in 1959 and moved to Waltham where they would raise their two children.

Paul had worked as an Operations Manager and in shipping logistics roles for various manufacturing firms including Nuclear Metals Inc. in Concord, Kloss Video, Advent Corporation, and Johnson Controls at Pfizer, all based in his native Cambridge, until his retirement.

He was a true family man at heart. He loved spending time with his loved ones in any and every way possible, whether it was during family trips to Dennis each year or sitting around the dinner table at home. In addition, Paul was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox, the New England Patriots, and all other Boston sports teams. In his free time he participated in the baseball program in Waltham as a coach, occasional umpire, or in any capacity needed, and could be found spending an afternoon at the WAL-LEX participating in their candlepin bowling league. Never one to stay idle for too long, Paul was known for his handyman skills, and also loved the art of woodworking and cars, especially Ford Mustangs.

Paul leaves his beloved wife of 62 years, Lillian R. (Thorne) Corkery; his children, Susan Silva (Bob) of Waltham and Steven Corkery (Julie) of Natick; his grandchildren, Robert Silva (Kelli Tower) of Sutton, Christopher Silva (Monica) of Milford, Jenna Corkery of Cambridge, and Ryan Corkery of Natick; his great-grandchildren Michael and Dominic Silva; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and their families.

Paul is reunited with his siblings, John H. Corkery, Jr. Lorraine Bayne, and Jane Oldham.

Family and friends will honor and remember Paul's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20) Waltham, on Sunday, February 27th from 2 to 5 p.m. and again on Monday morning at 12 p.m. before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham, where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
