Mr. Murdock J. 'Bud' MacKenzie, Jr., of Framingham, died Monday, June 13, 2022 at Saint Patrick's Manor in Framingham. He was 93.

Bud was born in Waltham on November 26, 1928, a son of the late Murdock J., Sr. and Bessie Mae (Berry) MacKenzie. After graduating from Waltham High School he joined the Merchant Marines and then transferred to the United States Marine Corps where he served during the end of World War II.

He enjoyed a long and successful career as a building contractor and was known in the trades as an expert craftsman. He was also a talented gardener who enjoyed keeping the landscape around his house neat and colorful.

Bud's time with his family, especially spoiling his grandchildren, gave him a bounce in his step. Trips to Maine, trying every variety of ice cream and storytelling created many happy memories. His trademark smile and friendly demeanor earned him friendships, near and far.

Before a move to Framingham a year ago he had lived in Lincoln, Marlborough and in Waltham.

The husband of the late Margaret L. (Binda) MacKenzie and Adeline (Rando) MacKenzie, he leaves his children, Murdock John MacKenzie, III (Elizabeth) of West Boylston, Lisa MacKenzie of Concord, Laura Santucci (Jeff Kimbar) and Paula M. Vellante (William), all of Marlborough; his grandchildren, Shawna Risotti (Steven), Jason MacKenzie, Crystal Marshall (Adam), Michael MacKenzie (Ashley), Ronald Santucci, III (Sarah Lawson), Danielle Gratto (Anthony) and Maria and Julia Vellante; his great-grandchildren, Amitty, Charlie, MacKenzie, Matthew, Anna, Corbin and Briar; his sister, Jean Arcese of Rutland, Vermont and many nieces and nephews.

Bud was also a brother of the late Robert MacKenzie, Marguerite McCullough and Pauline Chase.

Family and friends will honor and remember Bud's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Friday, June 17th from 4 to 7 p.m. and again on Saturday morning when his funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 300 5th Avenue, Waltham, MA 02451.
