Waltham – Mr. Michael Paul Garrigan died on January 16, 2017 at the age of 71 in Las Vegas, Nevada after a three year battle with cancer as a result of Agent Orange. Michael was born on April 4, 1945 and was formerly a native of Waltham.
He was the husband of Afarina 'Affie' H. (Aragon); father of Emmet Matthew Garrigan of Las Vegas, NV and step-son, Scott. He was the son of the late William 'Mike' F. Garrigan, Jr. and late Margaret M. (Lally) Garrigan of Waltham and brother of the late Mark E. Garrigan.
Michael graduated from St. Mary's High School, Class of 1963 and attended Bentley College School of Business.
After college, Mike honorably served his country as a Captain in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a decorated Marine Corps. Combat Fighter Pilot, piloting the F4-Phanton Jet in Vietnam from 1970-1971.
Later, his interests were in family and business in Real Estate in the Southern California and Nevada locations.
Mike had a wonderful adventurous spirit, was a romantic at heart and certainly had a bit of the Irish blarney to share. He touched our heart and soul as only Michael could and gave his life to his country through his military service and life altering, Agent Orange. We will miss him greatly.
He also leaves behind his brothers, William 'Bill' F. Garrigan of Waltham, Matthew 'Matt' R. Garrigan of Provincetown and his sister Margaret 'Peggy' A. Savage of Framingham. Also, he leaves behind nephews, Robert, Christopher and Thomas Garrigan and niece, Rebecca Porter and along with extended family and friends.
A private memorial was previously held in Las Vegas, Nevada.
A full military burial will be held at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, NV at a later date.
Memorial donations can be made to the Fisher House Foundation; www.fisherhouseboston.org
