Peace, light, joy and refreshment . . . those were the simple gifts that Maureen Dawson-Dillon enjoyed every time she sat in the sand and listened to the waves at Manomet Beach in Plymouth . . . a place that she and her family treasured.

Maureen A. Dawson was born alongside her twin sister, Meagan on December 30, 1988 in Leominster. She was a daughter of the late John J. "Jack" Dawson, Jr. and Paula M. (Tisdale) Dawson. Raised in Waltham she was a graduate of Trinity Catholic High School in Newton with the class of 2007. Active in high school athletics she played basketball, volleyball and was a pitcher/first baseman on the softball team.

She later earned her Bachelor's degree from the University of Massachusetts at Boston in 2011 and her Master's degree in accounting from Suffolk University. She had been working at Newburg & Company, a Waltham accounting firm.

On September 9, 2017 she married Matthew J. Dillon and the couple made their home in Lowell. Maureen died on Sunday, August 19, 2018. She was 29.

Ever since childhood Halloween was Maureen's favorite holiday. Trick or treating with her sisters and the abundance of candy that came with it made the evening memorable. Carving pumpkins and fabulous costumes were a part of the holiday that she enjoyed even into adulthood.

She loved animals but especially her dogs. Maureen loved the thrill of riding on a Harley-Davidson and the tranquility of fishing and navigating the family boat . . . skills she learned from her Dad. More than anything else Maureen loved her family who will miss her sweet smile and gentle spirit.

Her passion for athletics remained with her as she was a faithful New England sports enthusiast. She was active in various fundraisers for pancreatic cancer research.

In addition to her husband, Matt and her twin sister, Meagan M. Dawson of Waltham she leaves her sister, Kelly M. Dawson and her fiancé, Michael Huxley, of Waltham and her brother, Shaun M. Tisdale and his wife, Melissa, of Fitchburg.

Family and friends will honor and remember Maureen's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Monday, August 27th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again on Tuesday morning when her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Burial will be private.
