Pat Studley was a much-loved and familiar face in her Lakeview neighborhood in North Waltham where she lived for many years to raise her five children. They fondly recall the many great neighbors, playing outside after school or skating on Hardy Pond until it was dark and time to return home for dinner.

She was a legend and one-of-a kind who met adversity with tenacity . . . and a smile. Even up to her recent death she had a pulse on the comings and goings on her street and in her neighborhood and was a comfortable fixture to so many. Pat was always present on the sidelines of her children's sporting events and later in life at many of the games of her grandchildren. Family was her world.

Pat died peacefully on Monday, November 25, 2019 at Lahey Clinic in Burlington. She was 85.

Marie Patricia Burns was born April 8, 1934 in Waltham, a daughter of Canadian immigrants Dennis and Nellie H. (Doucette) Burns. Nellie later remarried and Pat was raised by her step-father, Angelo Martocchio, of whom she was very fond. A graduate of Saint Mary's High School she was married to Waltham native Arthur B. Studley until his death on December 18, 1996. Pat worked as a clerk at the Raytheon Corporation for over fifteen years and later for Filene's in Belmont Center for over ten years.

Pat faithfully followed all the New England sports teams and loved time with family and friends.

In addition to her husband, Arthur, she was predeceased by her brother and sister, George Burns and Thelma Pignone.

She leaves her children, Arthur B. Studley, III (Valerie) of Charlton, Ellen M. Russo of Burlington, Jeffrey J. Studley (Jacqueline) of Billerica, Jill A. Studley of Brookline, New Hampshire and John V. Studley (Lisa) of Framingham; sister and brother, Wilma Morin (George) of Waltham, Peter Martocchio (Mimi) of Hollis, New Hampshire; her grandchildren, Julie Evans (Rob), Jennifer LaCrosse (Jimmy), Sarah and Jack Studley, Kristen Lambert (Jason), Brian Studley, Emily McCarter, Jillian and Grace Studley; her great-grandchildren, Sophie, Olivia, Morgan, James Mackenzie and Teddy and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will honor and remember Pat's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Sunday, December 1st from 2 to 5 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Monday morning before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in The Gardens at Gethsamane Cemetery, West Roxbury.
