Newton – Miss Marie C. Kelly, of Newton, died Saturday, September 12, 2020 at the Stanley Tippett Hospice Home in Needham following a period of declining health. She was 95.

Marie was born and raised in Newton on June 24, 1925, a daughter of the late Patrick and Mary (Corcoran) Kelly. She was a 1943 graduate of Newton High School and after that began an almost fifty year career with the New England Telephone Company, retiring as a manager for Verizon.

A lifelong parishioner of Our Lady Help of Christians Church, Marie was also a longtime volunteer at Saint Francis House in Boston. After retirement she joined Woodland Golf Club where she learned the game well and made many lifelong friends.

The hallmarks of Marie's life were well known . . . life, love, faith, family and friendships. She was beloved by her legion of nieces and nephews who, with great affection, called her Rie-Rie.

In addition to her nieces and nephews and their families she leaves her brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Rita Kelly of Waltham.

She was also a sister of the late John, Francis and Thomas Kelly and Dorothy O'Rourke.

Family and friends will honor and remember Marie's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Wednesday, September 16th from 4 to 7 p.m. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday morning in Our Lady Help of Christians Church, 573 Washington Street, Newton. Burial will follow in Newton Cemetery.
