Rani Lackiram made certain she always remained in contact with her family and friends. She made her daily phone calls with a hello and genuine concern and interest. 'Auntie Rani', lovingly known to all, died unexpectedly on Friday, November 10, 2017 in Newton-Wellesley Hospital. She was 57.

Lenora Lackiram was born December 12, 1959 in Diego Martin, Trinidad, a daughter of Samuel Lackeyram and the late Dolly (Maraj) Lackeyram. Raised and educated in Trinidad she completed her formal education in Trinidad and then worked as a technician for Simplon Lenses.

She immigrated to the United States in 1988 and settled in Waltham. For over 20 years she was a developmental disability worker for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in the Department of Developmental Services in its Waltham office before retiring due to illness.

'Auntie Rani' was the most loved aunt for her nine nieces and nephews. She put others needs before her own. She loved anything gambling related from a scratch ticket to playing a game of cards or an outing at a nearby casino. She was talented and creative in the kitchen and her signature dish of 'roti & curry' was a much sought after meal. An avid sports fan her favorite sport was soccer…'Go Barcelona!'

She leaves her father, Samuel Lackeyram of Waltham; her siblings, Leon 'Gary' Lackiram and his wife, Dianne of Nashua, New Hampshire, Liza Llanos and her husband, Bernard of Maynard, Linda Clayton and her husband, Jefferey of Milford, Samantha Lackeyram-Owen of Waltham, Sean Lackeyram Owen of Waltham; her step-mother, Cheryl Thompson of Waltham; her step-brother, Tommy Thompson and his wife, Lauren, of Pelham, New Hampshire; her nieces & nephews, Leon and Sofia Lackiram, Brandon and Lena Llanos, Rishab and Aolani Clayton, Sina and Shayan Rostamnezhad and Abigail Thompson; aunts, uncles and many cousins including Reann Rostamnezhad and her husband, Behrouz, of Belmont.

Family and friends will honor and remember Rani's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Thursday, November 16th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again on Friday morning from 9 to 10 a.m. Her Funeral Service will follow at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Final commendation and cremation rites will follow at the Newton Cemetery & Crematory Chapel, 791 Walnut Street, Newton.
