From the moment that his mother got him a pair of skates and his father got him onto the ice when he was four years old Justin Provencher found his greatest love. Skating and hockey . . . hockey and skating . . . every day all day if he could have.

Justin's passion for the sport followed him throughout his life. He graduated from Sudbury High School but before that had played for the Waltham High Hawks. He got his hockey start with Waltham Youth Hockey.

Following high school Justin played defense for the Helena Bighorns [Montana] and for the Point Mallard Ducks [Milwaukee, Wis.], both part of the NA3HL, one of two major American junior hockey leagues.

After that he enrolled at Becker College where he played defense for the school's hockey team.

Justin was 22 when he died at his Sudbury home on Sunday, July 29, 2018.

He leaves his parents, Lisa M. (Melanson) Churchill and her husband, John, of Waltham and Paul Provencher of Sudbury; his brothers, Nick Provencher and his wife, Kristal, of Winston-Salem, North Carolina and Brett Provencher of Waltham; his nephew, Chase Provencher; his grandmother, Estelle Provencher; his aunts and uncles, Lori Losinsky, Robert Provencher, Michel Provencher, Vincent Provencher, Gabrielle McGrath, Lucille Provencher, Mark Provencher, Louise Provencher-Heath, Helene Aucoin, Martin Provencher, and Adrienne Politis and many cousins.

Justin was also a grandson of the late Richard and Joanne Melanson and Adrian Provencher.

Family and friends will honor and remember Justin's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Thursday, August 2nd from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9:30 a.m. on Friday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Jude Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
