Waltham – Mr. John R. 'Jack' Silva, of Waltham, died Saturday, September 1, 2018 at The Residence at Watertown Square. He was 71.

Jack was born in Lexington on November 26, 1946, the son of the late John A. and Barbara A. (Armstrong) Silva. He and his family moved to Waltham when he was ten and he later graduated from Waltham Vocational High School.

He worked for years as an expert spray painter, most recently for Detail Millwork in Waltham. Before that Jack was an auto body specialist and aficionado of classic cars . . . and although he worked on every make and model he always considered himself 'a Ford guy'. The fit and finish on his cars were they envy of his peers.

He leaves his beloved wife of fifty-one years, Nancy R. (Marqus) Silva of Waltham; his children, John P. Silva (Belinda) of Lincoln, Richard D. "Rick" Silva (Denise) of Waltham, Melanie Mangini (Alyson) of New Jersey and Shelly Silva (Paul Duplessis) of Waltham; his grandchildren, Samantha Silva, Leah Duplessis, John Silva, Cole Silva, Landen Duplessis, Vincent Mangini and Nicolas Mangini; his sister, Nancy Calson (Jon "Cal") of Ormond Beach, Florida and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will honor and remember Jack's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Sunday, September 9th, from 2 to 5 p.m. and again on Monday morning when his funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.

Jack's fellow classic car enthusiasts are invited to join the procession with their vehicles on Monday morning.

Memorial donations may be made to Care Group Parmenter Homecare and Hospice, 1 Arsenal Marketplace, Watertown, MA 02472.
