Belmont – Mr. John P. Rogers, of Belmont, died Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge. He was 61.

John was born and raised in Waltham and was a son of the late Joseph "Fred" and Ella M. (Terrio) Rogers. Following his 1979 marriage to Belmont native Kathryn A. Drolette, the couple lived in Waltham and in Framingham for a time before moving to Belmont where they raised their family.

Until illness forced an early retirement John worked as a building contractor all his life and was handy with all the trades. He was a true outdoorsman who loved nature and the sea.

In addition to his wife of thirty-eight years, Kathryn, he leaves his children, Matthew D. Rogers of Worcester, Nicole R. Rogers of Wakefield, Kerry A. Rogers of Framingham, and Christopher J. Rogers of Belmont; his sisters and brothers, Carol Marchione of Framingham, Daniel Rogers of Ashland, Mary "Dee" Brissenden of Waltham, Robert Rogers of Lunenburg and Joseph Rogers of Salem and many nieces and nephews.

John was also a brother of the late Donald Rogers.

Family and friends will honor and remember John's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte.20), Waltham on Thursday, July 20th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Friday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Charles Borromeo Church, 51 Hall Street, Waltham, where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge.
