Mr. John A. Cameron, of Watertown, died Friday, August 16, 2019. He was 59.

John was born and raised in Watertown and lived for a time in Waltham. He was a son of the late Archibald B. and Mary J. (Dorie) Cameron and was a graduate of Watertown High School.

He worked in construction all his life and became a master plasterer, so good at his trade that he earned the nickname 'Johnny Smooth'. His real passion was for boating. He belonged to the Watertown Yacht Club for more than twenty years where he kept his boat, appropriately named, 'Smooth Finish'.

He leaves his wife, Susan T. Peterson; his brothers, Lawrence E. Cameron (Karen) of Shrewsbury, Wayne B. Cameron (Cheryl) of Watertown and Jerry Cameron (Maureen) of Waltham; his nieces and nephew, Michele Pappas, Renee Aucoin and Joseph Cameron and his beloved canine companion, Angus.

John was also a brother of the late Deborah Cameron and Catherine A. LoChiatto.

Family and friends will honor and remember John's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Tuesday, August 20th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 8 a.m. on Wednesday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Patrick's Church, 212 Main Street, Watertown where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Ridgelawn Cemetery, Watertown.
