Mrs. Jean A. (Hays) Wilson, lovingly known as "Mima" to many, lifelong resident of Waltham, passed away peacefully on May 26th 2022, surrounded by her family. She was 93.

She was born July 21, 1928 in Waltham to Josiah Edward "Ed" and Helen (Savage) Hays. She, along with her sister Nancy, attended the Academy of Assumption boarding school for much of her childhood. It was here that she developed her love for the spoken and written word, so she subsequently attended Emanuel College where she earned her B.A. in English in 1950.

Jean had a love of this country and upon graduation from Emanuel received a commission in the United States Air Force. While stationed in Germany she met the love of her life, JW Wilson; they were married in Germany and returned to Waltham to raise their family where they remained until very recently.

Jean taught for years at the Carousel nursery school in Waltham. For years children would recognize her while shopping at the Wal-Lex as their much loved teacher. Following her love of early childhood education, Jean became a licensor with the office for children assisting home daycare owners assure that their homes were safe for children. Jean, will be greatly missed by family and friends for her love of laughter, thoughtfulness towards others, optimistic outlook, generous spirit, and gratefulness for all of God's blessings for her and her family.

She is survived by her three remaining children, son Jay Mark (Mickey) Wilson of New Hampton New Hampshire, daughter Judy Wilson of Sarasota Florida, daughter Wendy (Wilson) Sturgeon (David) of Marshfield, sisters, Antoinette Hays, Christine Malloy and her brother, William Wesley Hays. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Jean also leaves many loving nieces and nephews.

Jean's Husband JW Wilson preceded her in death, as did her daughter Karen, her brother Josiah Edward "Teddy" Hays, her sister Nancy Ross, and parents, Josiah Edward Hays and Helen Hays.

Family and friends will honor and remember Jean's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham, on Thursday, June 16th from 4 to 7 p.m. and again on Friday morning in Regis College Chapel, 235 Wellesley Street, Weston, where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m.. Burial will be private.
