Waltham – Mr. James E. Anderson, of Waltham, died Sunday, April 30, 2017 in the Rose Monahan Hospice Home in Worcester. He was 86.

Jim was born in Eureka, California on February 24, 1931, a son of the late Harry and Jane (Carolan) Anderson. He was raised on a dairy farm in Ferndale, California and graduated from Ferndale High School with the class of 1949. During the Korean War he served with the United States Navy as a machinist aboard the USS Steven Potter.

Following his time in the service, he relocated to Massachusetts where he began working at Waltham Lime and Cement Company. He then worked for the next 30 years as a load operator and later as a plant manager for J.H. McNamara Concrete Company.

He was an avid sports fan and his favorite teams were the Red Sox and Patriots. He was also a fifty-four member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Lodge No. 953 in Waltham.

Jim was the husband of the late Patricia M. (Fay) Anderson and is survived by his children, Jane P. Anderson of Hudson, Trudy C. Anderson of Waltham, Kevin Anderson of Lowell, Robert Anderson of Framingham, Harry Anderson of Worcester, James Anderson, Jr. of Maine and Richard Anderson of Milford; his sister, Maxine Freson of Newport, Oregon and several grandchildren, nieces, nephews and their families.

He was also the father of the late Paul Anderson and brother of the late Lois Karosa and Katherine Bugbee.

Family and friends will honor and remember Jim's life by gathering for calling hours in the Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Friday May 5th, from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 11 a.m. on Saturday morning in Grove Hill Cemetery, 290 Main Street, Waltham where graveside services will be held.
