Brewster – Mr. J. Alden Wentworth II, 79, died Sunday April 8, 2018. He was the loving husband of Helen (Smith) Wentworth and son of the late Paul and Eleanor Wentworth.

Alden graduated from Waltham High School in 1956 and received a BA in psychology from Colby College in Waterville Maine.

Alden owned and operated Freedom Wentworth & Sons Funeral Home in Waltham, where, with his wife Helen, he provided comfort and support to many of the residents of Waltham and the surrounding communities. He was also very active in civic and community organizations including Monitor Masonic Lodge and the Rotary Club.

After he and Helen were married in 1960 they lived in Waltham for many years and spent their summers in Brewster on Cape Cod.

Alden retired to Brewster, and to Bluffton, South Carolina where he enjoyed playing golf all year long. He spent his last years in his happiest place: on Cape Cod.

Alden is survived by his wife Helen, and his four children: son Jay and his wife Dot of Shrewsbury, daughter Nancy and her husband Mike Murphy of Plymouth, daughter Julie and her husband Jim O'Donnell of Bluffton, South Carolina and son David of St. Petersburg, Florida.

He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, his sisters: Gail McGuire of Fort Wayne Indiana and Debbie Fraser of Jacksonville, Florida and several nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, April 14th at the Nickerson Funeral Home, 77 Eldredge Park Way, Orleans from 1 to 3 p.m., followed by a service. A private burial will be held at a later date.
