Waltham – Mrs. Georgie A. (Rolland) Hallock, of Waltham, died at home on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, following a period of declining health due to lung cancer and brain cancer. She was 77.

Georgie was born in Boston on July 26, 1944, and lived in Natick and Framingham before moving with her family to Weston. She was a graduate of Weston High School and Chamberlain Junior College on Commonwealth Avenue in Boston.

In June 1965, she married her sweetheart, James N. Hallock, at the Wayside Inn in Sudbury and seven years later the couple made Waltham their lifelong home.
Known as a voracious reader, a talented baker (the Cookie Lady) and mother, Georgie beamed with delight when her grandchildren, Phineas, Freya and Rowan came along. They were her greatest joy.

In Waltham, Georgie immersed herself in the life of the community. She had been a longtime member of Christ Church and was best known for her involvement with the local chapter of the League of Women Voters, including as its president. She was a living encyclopedia of local knowledge and was always happy to share tidbits of stories about the people, places and things that made her hometown and its environs important and interesting.

She was a past president of the Friends of the Waltham Public Library and was a member of the board of directors at the Waltham Senior Center and at Springwell, a local advocacy group for those in need of services. Georgie was also a longtime board member of the Corporation of the Jonas Willis Parameter Home, Inc. in Waltham as well as a warden at one of the Waltham election sites.

In addition to her husband of fifty-seven years, Jim. she leaves her children: Alexander J. Hallock (Fiona Plows) of Littleton and Theodore A. Hallock (Katherine Brown) of Lakewood, Colorado; her grandchildren: Phineas J. Hallock, Freya E. Brown and Rowan A. Hallock-Plows; and her brothers: Martin "Matt" Rolland and Robert Rolland (Carol Buck), all of Vermont and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Georgie's life will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, April 29, at the Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham.
