Waltham – Mrs. Emma (Binda) LaFort, of Waltham, died Monday, April 3, 2017 in Medway Country Manor. She was 91.

Emma was born in Waltham on November 22, 1925, a daughter of the late Valentino and Frances (Phillips) Binda. She was a lifelong Waltham resident and had worked at the Waltham Watch Factory during the early years of her marriage.

She was a talented and creative woman who was counted on as the family hairdresser, chef, cake creator and decorator and flower arranger. For the grandkids, the memory of Emma's breakfasts recall that they were made with the finest foods and huge doses of love.

To anyone who knew her Emma was the consummate hostess. She was warm, loving, kind and generous. Most important to her was her family and she cherished the time spent with her grandsons and most recently her great-granddaughter Gwenyth Emmarose.

She was the beloved wife of the late James L. LaFort who died in May of 2015 and is survived by her daughter, Janice McGovern and her husband, Richard, of Franklin; her grandsons, James McGovern of Franklin, Brian McGovern and his wife, Melissa, of Waltham and Jason McGovern of Franklin; her great-granddaughter, Gwenyth Emmarose McGovern and many nieces and nephews.

She was also a sister of the late Margaret MacKenzie.

Family and friends will honor and remember Emma's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Thursday April 6th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 11 a.m. on Friday morning before leaving in procession to Sacred Heart Church, 311 River St., Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12 p.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
