Waltham – Mr. David M. Hall, of Waltham, died Sunday, May 7, 2017 in Newton-Wellesley Hospital. He was 69.

Born on December 1, 1947 in Wyandotte, Michigan he was a son of the late David J. and Rita (Sharpe) Hall. After graduating high school he earned an associate's degree from Bunker Hill Community College. He honorably served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War and later enlisted with the Army Reserves at age 42 serving the Lawrence/Lowell Unit. He married Kathleen M. Deveau on May 11, 1974.

Professionally, David began as a cook at the former Hahnemann Hospital in Brighton where he later became director of food services and then housekeeping director. A desire for warmer climates brought Dave and Kathy to Florida where they owned and operated their restaurant, Café Nova. Retirement then afforded them a move to Groesbeck, Texas and then Myrtle Beach, South Carolina before returning to his much loved Waltham to be closer to his family.

An avid sports fan and supporter of all the New England teams he remained loyal to his native Detroit Tigers. Retirement enabled him to enjoy fantasy football and baseball and spend more time with his grandchildren. He had a terrific sense of humor and in the face of his illness he maintained his ability to make others smile and laugh.

In addition to his wife of almost 43 years, Kathleen, he leaves their children, Michael S. Hall and his wife, Maria of Shrewsbury, David J. Hall and his wife, Jennifer of Maynard and Kristin D. Hall and her husband, Michael McCauley of Waltham; his grandchildren, Angel, Christopher, Lillian, Zachary, Eliza and Karalyn; his siblings, Daniel Hall of Westland, Michigan and Kathleen M. Hall in Florida and the late James, Christopher and Timothy Hall; also survived by many nieces & nephews.

Family and friends will honor and remember David's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Thursday, May 11th from 5 to 8 p.m. and again on Friday morning at The Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon where his service will be held 11 a.m. Please go directly to the cemetery.

Memorials in his name may be made to New England Center and Home for Veterans, 17 Court Street, Boston MA 02108.
