Waltham – Mr. D. Timothy Buckley, Jr., of Waltham died peacefully on Sunday August 8, 2021 in Maristhill Nursing Home, Waltham. He was 83.

Tim was born in Boston on December 4, 1937, the son of the late Daniel T., Sr. and Helen (Cotter) Buckley. He was raised in Arlington and was a proud graduate of Boston College High School (1955) and the College of the Holy Cross (1959).

He began his career as a school teacher in Billerica before going to work for John Hancock Life Insurance Company in Boston where he worked for over forty years as a commercial real estate manager.

He was the beloved husband for fifty-four years of the late Jane (Corliss) Buckley who died on July 13, 2018.

Tim will long be remembered for his selfless devotion to serving others. His association with the Saint Vincent dePaul Society at Saint Mary's Church in Waltham is legend. Regardless of the need, Tim met a request for help with kind words, a warm smile and a solution. His resourcefulness and list of contacts was unmatched and his energy boundless . . . he was the guy.

In 1985 he also helped to establish the Student Santa program at Waltham High School that brought Christmas joy to thousands of local children over the years. He was a longtime board member of the Middlesex Human Services Agency and served as a lector and Eucharistic minister at Saint Mary's Church in Waltham and at Saint Julia's Church in Weston.

Despite his aversion to recognition Tim was honored in 2012 by the award of the Cheverus Medal from the Archdiocese of Boston and four years later by the In Hoc Signo Award from his beloved alma mater, Holy Cross.

He leaves his children, Timothy E. 'Ted' Buckley (Kathleen) of Watertown and Christopher M. Buckley of Waltham; his grandchildren, Colin J. and Declan T. Buckley; his sister, Paula Buckley, of Marshfield Hills and many nieces, nephews and their families.

He was the brother of the late Ann-Jean Donelan and Allyn Buckley.

Family and friends will honor and remember Tim's life by gathering for his Funeral Mass in Saint Mary's Church, 133 School Street, Waltham on Saturday, August 14th at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery Waltham.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Saint Vincent de Paul Society, c/o of Saint Mary's Parish, 133 School Street, Waltham MA 02451.
