Mr. Byron Trefonides Sr., of Westport, formerly of Waltham died Thursday, April 19, 2018 in Wingate of Weston. He was 86.

Born June 28, 1931 in New Bedford he was a son of the late Nicholas and Despina (Mistiloglov) Trefonides. Raised and educated in New Bedford he graduated from New Bedford High School and later honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He married Marguerite M. Governor in The Old South Church in Boston. They made Waltham their home for many years before moving permanently to their home in Westport, Massachusetts almost thirty years ago.

Byron worked for many years designing and constructing dental labs, primarily with SS White Dental in Boston. He later enjoyed working in real estate while maintaining and officiating as many ceremonies as a Justice of the Peace.

Bryon was a larger than life figure and proud of his Greek heritage. He was a member of Waltham Triad Lodge of Mason's A.F. & A.M. Living near the water in Westport afforded him time to go fishing and playing rounds of golf with friends.

In addition to his wife, Marguerite, he leaves his children, Byron Trefonides Jr. and his wife, Eileen of Londonderry, New Hampshire and Donna T. MacClary and her husband, Robert of Westwood; his grandchildren, Jeslyn Monaghan and her husband, Richard, Nicholas Trefonides and Stephanie Trefonides; his great-granddaughter, Freya Monaghan; his brother, Steven Trefonides and his wife, Phyllis of Brookline; nieces & nephews.

Family and friends will honor and remember Byron's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham, on Wednesday, April 25th from 4:00 – 6:00 pm. Burial is private.

Memorials in his name may be made to the Judge Baker Children's Center, 53 Parker Hill Avenue, Boston, MA 02120.
