Aldo Servino remained mindful of his beginnings throughout his eighty-seven years life. Born in Naples, Italy on April 19, 1931 he was a son of the late Domenico and Giuseppina (Giannetti) Servino. Raised and educated in Italy he attended and achieved degrees from fine arts colleges in Italy. His talent and passions lied in ceramic arts and as a commercial artist many of his works were sold in Naples and exported throughout the world. As a young artist he would also draw portraits in the streets of Naples of young American soldiers to be sent back to the States…gifting his earnings to his mother. At age eighteen his hard work and perseverance paid off and he enjoyed the pride of his own ceramic factory.

Life brought change…and with courage and hope he immigrated to the United States in 1983 with his young family. He left the comforts of his native Italy with an abundance of family and friends including seven siblings remaining behind. With his young family to provide for he shifted his talents to painting. Many of his beautiful murals exist throughout many well-known Boston restaurants.

Aldo died at his home in Watertown on Monday, September 3, 2018. Ci manchi tanto e grazie per tutte le risate e i ricordi meravigliosi. Riposa in pace nonno Aldo.

Cooking was his way of telling his family and friends he loved them. His cuisine wasn't limited to Italian dishes as he was always experimenting successfully with new recipes based upon a dish he had experienced at a local restaurant. He loved music…classical jazz and Italian singer Paolo Conte. Italian soccer always keep his interest and attention and while they missed this year's world cup he never wavered in his loyalty. Forza Italia! Books by Ernest Hemenway, Jack Kerouac and Steinbeck were amongst his chosen and favorite reads and anything related to the sea.

He married Lucinda Burleigh in April 1983 and they enjoyed 35 years together exploring life's adventures of travel and the routine and company of one another.

Aldo is predeceased by his former wife and mother of his children, Anna M. (Mastrogiovanni) Servino and his brother, Mario Servino.

He leaves his children, Paola Servino of Waltham, Marta Coscia (Christopher) of Franklin and Luca Servino (Mary) of Stratford, Connecticut; his grandchildren, Luke, Mason, Maliah, Gabriella and Christopher Jr.; his siblings, Ugo, Carmine and Elio Servino, Ada Trezza, Clara Caputo and Vanda Iodice, all in Italy; also survived by many nieces & nephews.

Family and friends will honor and remember Aldo's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham, on Friday, September 7th from 5 to 8 p.m. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday in Saint Patrick's Church, 212 Main Street, Watertown at 9 a.m. Burial will follow in Ridgelawn Cemetery.
