I did not know Henri well but am a long time Genzyme employee who had the privilege of working under his leadership. He built a great company and was a great leader. So sorry for the loss.

Dear Belinda,

Henri touched so many lives - patients, colleagues, and others he may not have even known. He was a tremendous leader with a heart that cast a beautiful light on everything he accomplished. He is an inspiration to many. My condolences for you and your family.

Words cannot express the depth of our sorrow at losing Henri who felt like a dear, dear friend even if we were only lucky enough to see him and you occasionally. His warm smile and ready wit, his pleasure at being with us and everyone else, his wise and witty conversation, and his joy in life were his special signature. We always looked forward to seeing him because he made us and others feel special enveloped in his warmth.

Dear Belinda, My heart goes out to you and your family. I feel very privileged to have worked with Henri and I am sad for this loss. He was an inspirational leader and was kind enough to come to Concert last November to share his stories and passion and to inspire the next generation of drug developers.

I will always remember his support, wise words and generosity as I was beginning to embark on my biotech career all those years ago after the IG merger.

With my deepest and heartfelt sympathy, Nancy Stuart

Dear Belinda,
My deepest condolences to you and the Termeer family. I joined Genzyme in 1996, when we still were a small group of people in Germnay. I still remember his passionate speech at the opening ceremony. In his way, he positively changed the mindset of many people! As Long as I live, I will never forget him. My heart and prayers are with you and your family.

Henri was a marvelous and inspirational leader. He created an extraordinary environment at Genzyme for scientists and business people to work together and attempt to do the impossible. He was also very kind to my family and through his support of the arts helped my son, David, in the nascent stages of his career as an illustrator through the 'Expressions of Hope' program. I am very indebted to Henri and try to live by the example he set.
